• Lifeguard Training in Silver Spring

    If you're ready to begin your lifeguard training in Silver Spring, the Red Cross is here to help. But before you sign up, it's important to be prepared. All participants must be at least 15 years old by the last day of class, and pass a pre-course swimming skills test prior to enrolling in the course. Once you've been accepted into the program, you'll learn how to safely and effectively prevent and respond to water emergencies, and earn your CPR, First Aid and AED certifications, which are valid for two years.

    The American Red Cross offers in-person Lifeguarding Classes in Silver Spring. Our in-person courses are perfect for those who prefer a traditional learning environment, offering the time to learn, ask questions and view in-person demonstrations. The total time commitment for our in-person lifeguarding course is 25 hours and 20 minutes.

    Our blended learning Lifeguarding Classes in Silver Spring combine the traditional classroom environment along with online learning options. Our blended learning classes combines both in-person and online coursework for a total time commitment of 19 hours and 30 minutes in-person and 7 hours and 30 minutes of online work.

    The American Red Cross has three courses that are featured during Lifeguard training in Silver Spring: Lifeguarding, Shallow Water Lifeguarding (water up to 5 feet deep) and Aquatic Attraction Lifeguarding (water up to 3 feet deep). A two year certification in Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED is issued upon successful completion of our training and coursework. A digital certification is available upon completion.
