Made from a patented, closed-cell polyolefin foam that is more buoyant, tear-resistant, crack-resistant, hydrophobic (repels body fluids), oil-resistant, chemical-resistant, U.V.-resistant, and chlorine resistant. Rescue grips are permanently molded into the design of the ring, giving rescuers a better grip and control of the life ring, enabling rescuers to throw with more accuracy, and further distance. A patented moulded-in rope system secures a line into the throw ring so that it doesn't pull apart (unlike other ring buoys which have a rope attached through beckets, that are glued or sewn onto the ring and are easily torn off). The American Red Cross, Life Ring Buoy is made from the same ultra-durable, closed-cell foam as the LIFE™ Rescue Tubes, which have been lifeguard tested throughout the US and around the world.
