The updated Babysitter’s Training course is an in-person comprehensive caregiving program that delivers real-life readiness babysitting skills to those ages 11-16. Our engaging, youth-centered training combines hands-on practice, engaging videos, and interactive group activities to ensure participants are well-prepared for emergency situations.

Taking a Babysitting Class

The American Red Cross is the nation’s leader in babysitting classes and child care training – and will prepare you to become one of the most capable, trusted and confident caregivers in your community. Babysitting & Child Care Courses

Red Cross babysitting and child care courses can help you provide quality care to children of all ages. Developed by experts in the industry , our online and in-person courses are available to those ages 11 and older, and include topics such as choosing age-appropriate activities, basic child care, like feeding, child behavior, diapering, picking up a child safely, and more.
Please note: Red Cross child care courses are not intended for those seeking certification for state-licensed child care providers and does not meet all state requirements for such certification.

Babysitting Materials

Once your Red Cross babysitting and child care training is complete, you'll still have access to all of your course materials, including your Babysitter's Training Handbook on the Red Cross Learning Center. You can download them onto your mobile device or computer. You'll never be without the information you need to provide families with quality care.
